Duale dismisses Gachagua's Ol Kalou victory celebrations, says race was between DCP and Jubilee

The leaders now claim the contest was between the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) and the Jubilee Party, not Kenya Kwanza.

Speaking during an empowerment programme in Lafey Constituency, Mandera County, the leaders, led by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, said they are ready to face the opposition in the 2027 General Election.

The Kenya Kwanza brigade, led by CS Duale, Wetang'ula and President William Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet, was in Lafey Constituency for an empowerment programme.

The leaders used the event to launch fresh attacks on the opposition over its continued celebration of the Ol Kalou by-election outcome.

Duale led the criticism, dismissing DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua's assertion that the victory was a precursor to the 2027 presidential election.

"The Ol Kalou seat previously belonged to Jubilee after the late MP won it on a Jubilee ticket. So if you are celebrating, you should know you defeated Jubilee, led by Uhuru Kenyatta, who comes from your community," Duale said.

The leaders insisted that Kenya Kwanza remains united and well-positioned to take on the opposition in the next General Election.

"Do not chest-thump because of one by-election. We have won many by-elections before, and we know this game. We have support in Western, Nyanza, the Coast, North Eastern and across the country," Duale noted. 

"We, as leaders at the national level, want to ensure that every resident of Lafey is proud to be Kenyan. Let us remain united and preserve peace," Wetang'ula added. 

The leaders also criticised Gachagua's recent remarks on foreign tourist arrivals, arguing that such statements undermine Kenya's economy and could hurt millions of livelihoods that depend on the tourism sector.

"We condemn those who do not want our country to prosper economically. Those going around telling the world that Kenya is full of goons and chaos should stop because such statements only damage our country," Farouk stated.

The meeting also marked the launch of a voter registration drive, with residents urged to acquire national identity cards and register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

During the event, the government also distributed motorcycles and vehicles to National Police Reservists, community health workers and local administrators to enhance service delivery in the North Eastern region.
