Harambee Starlets left back Enez Mango says winning the Romanian second division with Farul Constanta is a dream come true.

The former Vihiga Queens captain has been a revelation for Constanta since joining the European side in October last year following successful trials.

She provided a whopping 26 assists in 13 matches to help steer Constanta top of the ten-team league with 45 points and consequently secured top-flight promotion.

Their nearest rivals Vulpitele Galbene finished five points back in second place as Liceenii Topolog (36), Chindia Targoviste (28) and FCSB (f)(17) finished third to fifth in that order.

Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital after the league ended on Sunday, Mango admitted she had been impressed by her own contribution to their success, adding promotion now means a chance to showcase her skill on a bigger stage.

“I feel good winning a title on a bigger level away from home. It’s a big achievement for me especially because it has always been my dream to play professional football in Europe and to win a title there. Now the focus shifts to the top league next season,” she said.

Mango stated she has now fully settled at the club but is still learning to beat the language barrier.

“It’s been eight months here now and I have adapted well to the team’s playing system, the culture and the environment.

“I’m the only African in the team and since they speak Romanian for the majority of the time it’s easy so communication can be an unsettling issue.

“I can say that I’ve been treated well and I’m happy to be here nonetheless.”

Mango joins Marjolen Nekesa (FK Minsk, Belarus), Esse Akida (Paok, Greece) and Judith Atieno (Rayon Sports, Rwanda) who have also won league titles with their respective clubs.

She left the newly crowned champions Vihiga Queens with a high profile having captained the side to a national championship during an unbeaten season.

She also finished that campaign with the most assists in competition history courtesy of her sixteen contributions.
