DP Ruto urges voters to reject leaders 'imposed on them'

Deputy President William Ruto has told his supporters that they have the final say on who becomes the next president, and dismissed the narrative that ‘deep state’ could block him from ascending to power.

Ruto, who was on his third day tour of Western region, continued to popuralize his bottom-up economic model.

He reiterated that the outcome of the August 8 general elections will be decided by votes cast, while rubbishing the narrative that forces within government were keen to upset his ambition to win the presidential race.

“Si tunataka rais mwenye atatufanyia kazi? Sasa hawa watu nataka niwaambie we will not accept ati tutengenezewe rais,” he told Busia residents.

The DP told the Busia electorate not to accept leaders who are imposed on them, urging them to instead support his bid.

“Tuko na sera, hawana sera. Tuko na track record, hawana track record. Tumepanga chama ya ma-hustler wote UDA, chama yao haijulikani ni gani,” he stated.

Ruto held rallies in Changara in Teso North, Logiri market, Andungosi and Budalangi to shore up support for his hustler movement.

“Hawa vijana si wa kupatiwa handouts, hawa vijana ni wa kupangiwa ajira, kila mtu anataka kusimamia familia yake akiwa na kazi ama biashara,” stated the DP.

Former lawmakers Ababu Namwamba, Arthur Odera and Mary Emase said Ruto was best suited to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as the fifth president.

“Huyu jamaa amefanya mambo, na anaposema tutabadilisha Kenya, ni ukweli atabadilisha Kenya. Hapa sisi watu wa Busia tumeamua hatutaenda tena safari ambayo haina sababu…tutatembea na hustler,” said Namwamba.
