Deputy President William Ruto now claims Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi is imposing Orange Democratic Movement leader (ODM) Raila Odinga on voters in his county.

Speaking Monday when he toured Meru County to popularize his 2022 presidential bid, Ruto took a swipe at his opponents in the Odinga camp, terming their quest for votes in Meru as a complete joke.

“Yaani sisi tumejipanga, tumeunda serikali miaka mbili… na ati kuna mtu anatuambia all of a sudden tumekosa mtu wa kutuongoza, ati twende tuletewe mtu wa kitendawili… hapana,” said Ruto.

“Hawa kina Kiraitu waache kutuchezea. Wanatubeba ufala.”

Ruto’s Monday tour saw him traverse Meru County, with stops in Githongo, Nkubu and Mitunguu Towns.

He is on a three-day vote-hunting tour across Central Kenya, which he kicked off on Sunday.
