Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has maintained that there will be no rigging of the presidential election in next year's polls.

Kindiki moved to quell the rising claims from some leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the opposition that the presidential vote will be rigged.

Speaking in Mwandimu village in Kwale County during the last mile electricity supply to 105 homes at a cost of Ksh.13.5 million, Kindiki said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is an independent body that delivers free and fair elections.

He said that the current Kenya Kwanza regime is a beneficiary of the independent commission which oversaw their win against the wishes of the previous government.

"President William Ruto and all elected leaders are currently in office because there has been an election commission that is free of manipulation and we have a democracy that upholds the will of the people" he said.

He said it is only the voters who will decide who their leaders will be.

"President William Ruto and those of us in leadership could not have been in office if we did not have a democratic Country, if we did not believe in the rule of law" he added.

Kindiki also rubbished the united opposition saying they have no agenda for the country.

He said most of those in the opposition have previously held public offices but they have no track record to show.

He said the contest in the next year's election will be based on what a leader has done for the people and what they inted to do.

"Next year every leader should show their work to get another chance, if you have done nothing you get lost" he said.
