Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said efforts to restore peace in the North Rift have borne fruit as the government looks to capitalize on it to roll out development in the region.

The DP said the security operation he spearheaded when he was Interior Cabinet Secretary has been a success pointing at reduced banditry and insecurity in the area.

“As Interior CS, my duty was to restore order and make the country safe. President Ruto instructed me to work round the clock to eradicate banditry in the six North Rift counties and counter terror attacks in Mandera and Lamu; and I did well," he said.

He spoke on Friday during Baringo Central Constituency Economic Empowerment held in Kabarnet town.

“Insecurity has gone down and I am happy to have played a role that I was assigned by the President. That is why we are saying two terms for the President to continue ensuring long-lasting peace in the region,” he added.

The DP assured Baringo residents that the county would not be left behind in national development, particularly in infrastructure, electrification, and education. He acknowledged the historical challenges the region has faced but affirmed that President Ruto’s administration is committed to transforming the area.

"Projects worth 783 million of Last Mile Electricity connectivity are ongoing in Baringo County. By the time Ruto goes home after serving his two terms, every home should have electricity so we can have a modern country,” Kindiki stated.

On education matters, the Deputy President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Kenya’s education system and making it more accessible to all.

He emphasized that the government will not cut funding to the sector.

“I want to make it clear that the government cannot roll back funding for our Primary and Secondary schools. We must make sure we continue funding our free primary and secondary education because this Nation will depend on these children in future,” Prof. Kindiki stated firmly.
