Didmus Barasa was not a JKUAT student, did not earn degree in 2008

In a letter dated September 14, 2026, JKUAT Registrar Academic Affairs Dr. Aggrey Wanyama said that Barasa’s name does not appear anywhere on their records.

Furthermore, the university disputed the authenticity of the certificate, stating that it did not hold any graduation ceremony in May 2008.

Consequently, the university concluded that the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering certificate he presented was “NOT GENUINE.”

“His name doesn’t appear on our alumni records, and JKUAT did not have a graduation in May 2008. His certificate for Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Programme is therefore “NOT GENUINE,” Dr Aggrey Wanyama, JKUAT Registrar Academic Affairs said.

JKUAT added that the matter had previously been raised with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), which was provided with information on the legitimacy of the academic qualifications.

“This matter has previously been investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), and the same information was communicated to both organisations,” the registrar said.

The university said it communicated the findings to EACC and the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), for consideration and any necessary action.
