Detectives based at Kabete Police Station have launched an intensive investigation into a deadly attack at Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School that left two security guards dead and property worth an undisclosed amount vandalized.

The Friday night incident occurred shortly after a rehearsal exercise involving Form Four students.

ccording to CCTV footage obtained from the school, a group of unidentified assailants stormed the compound under the cover of darkness, targeting the security guards on duty before proceeding to vandalize several offices and the computer laboratory.

“I received a call at around 1 a.m., and upon arriving at the school, one guard had already succumbed to his injuries while the other died on the way to hospital,”said Evans Owala, the school’s principal.
The attackers are said to have destroyed CCTV cameras and made away with at least ten laptops, several keyboards, and Safaricom routers. Some of the stolen items were later found discarded along the escape route.

Investigators are now analyzing CCTV footage and other forensic evidence as they pursue key leads that could help identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Preliminary reports suggest that the attackers may have been individuals familiar with the school environment.

The administration suspects that a suspended Form Four student—who allegedly caused a disturbance during Friday’s rehearsal—could have masterminded the assault, possibly in collaboration with other suspended students.

“They took ten laptops and some keyboards, but dropped a few as they fled. They also vandalized all CCTV cameras along the corridors,”
Mr. Owala added.

Family members of the slain guards have appealed for justice.

“I was shocked when I received the news. We just want justice for those who were killed,”
said Dickson Omollo, brother to one of the victims, Kenneth Wanjala.

The bodies of the two guards are currently at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) mortuary awaiting post-mortem examinations. Detectives continue to piece together evidence, with police sources confirming that the CCTV footage recovered could play a pivotal role in identifying the assailants.
