Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee Soipan Tuya on Thursday revealed her current net worth while appearing before the National Assembly's Committee on Appointments for vetting.

Appearing before the committee, Tuya stated that she is worth Ksh.243 million, a significant increase from the Ksh.156 million she reported in October 2022 when she was being vetted for the Environment CS position.

Tuya attributed the considerable growth to her assets appreciating over the 21-month period.

"It is largely from the appreciation of assets, private business and one asset acquired within Nairobi," she told the Speaker Moses Wetangula-led committee.

In 2022, Tuya told the same committee that her assets comprised of three homes based in Nairobi, Narok and another in her village.

She also mentioned owning motor vehicles, apartments, plots of land and a dairy business.

Tuya, who has also served as Narok Women Rep for two terms, is one of six former Cabinet Secretaries set to make a comeback in President William Ruto’s newly constituted Cabinet as part of his plan to form a broad-based government following the dismissal of the entire Cabinet by the Head of State on July 11.

The other five include; Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Alice Wahome (Lands), Aden Duale (Environment), Rebecca Miano (Trade), Davis Chirchir (Transport).
