The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued an update on the ongoing probe into the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia in Nakuru County.

Reverend Ndumia was brutally killed after unknown assailants broke into his residence and church office on the night of Sunday, May 3, 2026, making away with cash, mobile phones and other valuables.

The attack also left the church watchman seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

In a statement, investigators linked the incident to a criminal gang believed to be behind a series of violent armed robberies across the county.

According to detectives, the gang has been carrying out robberies while disguised in security forces uniforms and is known to use an L1A1 firearm during the attacks.

The suspects have also been linked to a separate robbery incident in which more than KSh600,000 was allegedly transferred from a victim’s bank account to mobile money numbers associated with members of the gang.

Detectives said advanced forensic examinations are currently underway to help place the suspects at the crime scene as investigations intensify.
