The club’s players and technical staff presented the trophy to the CS on Thursday at the National Treasury offices in Nairobi after clinching the record-extending 22nd title in the 2025/2026 season that ended last week.

Gor Mahia warded off AFC Leopards’ charge in the league’s run in with two matches to spare to hoist the title they had relinquished to Kenya Police FC in the 2024/2025 season.

While congratulating the record Kenyan champions on their latest success, Mbadi stated that Gor Mahia’s achievements over the years warrant recognition at the highest level of government.

“Gor Mahia merits a State House visit. Which other club has won more trophies than Gor Mahia FC? It might take their closest competitor, AFC Leopards SC 30–40 years to catch up with them. They are the best in East and Central Africa,” Mbadi said.

Mbadi revealed that he would support the club in preparing for the CAF Champions League return, even as he urged them to replicate their performance to the continental stage.

“And I'll get back to you to let you know when we are going to pay courtesy call to the president. Get me more details, especially on training ground and whatever. I'm sure this this is this the window for transfers and recruitment. Get me some details. For the management team, I'll give you Ksh 1 million. We give another 2 million for the players. And then there will be some 200,000 for fans,” he added.

In recognition of the team's achievement, the CS announced a reward of Ksh 3.2 million. He allocated Ksh 2 million to the players, Ksh 1 million to the management team and KSh 200,000 to fans.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier thanked the players for their efforts in helping the club secure another league title but noted that several challenges still need to be addressed.

Among the issues he highlighted was the lack of adequate training facilities, noting that the club often struggles to secure suitable grounds for training sessions.

"We continue to face challenges when it comes to training facilities. Getting proper grounds for training is not always easy, but we are working on solutions," said Rachier.

"Our fans have played a big role in our success. Through gate collections and their continued support, they have helped the club tremendously. We thank them and urge them to continue supporting us," he added.
