Cricket Kenya Chairperson Bhavesh Gohil has called on stakeholders and fans across the country to rally behind the sport as he aims to restore the sport to its former glory.

Speaking after Kenya’s match against Bahrain in the ongoing T20 series, Gohil—who assumed the top seat earlier this year—stressed that revitalizing the national sport requires collective effort.

“I would like to call for support from every Kenyan, be it a cricketer or a non-cricketer, and every stakeholder to support me in these good deed for cricket,” he said.

Reflecting on the nation's rich cricketing history, Gohil reiterated that returning the team to the global stage remains his central mission.

“I want to bring back the lost glory that we had back in the days when we had valuable and world recognized players who have been playing this sport and so I need the good will from every person.”

The chairman highlighted recent progress, attributing the sport's positive trajectory to increased match play and consistent competition.

Looking ahead, he plans to expand those opportunities while building local infrastructure.

“I want the team to play many more matches as possible, give the players more training and mentorships because I think that is the recipe we have that will hopefully help us put up a high performance centre back in Kenya.”

The sport has recently shown signs of a steady turnaround under Gohil’s leadership, marked by key developments such as the reinstatement of frozen funding from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
