Coventry and Crystal Palace both moved on Wednesday to strengthen their defences following opening-day defeats in the Premier League by signing Ethan Pinnock and Axel Disasi, respectively.

Coventry have signed defender Ethan Pinnock from Brentford for an undisclosed fee.

The 33-year-old will add experience to the Sky Blues' back-line as Frank Lampard's men bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

"I'm really excited to join Coventry City and continue my footballing journey with this great club," Pinnock said in a statement.

"After 25 years, the club are back in the Premier League, and I know how much it must mean to everyone involved with the club and the supporters. I can't wait to be part of it."

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Disasi joined Crystal Palace on loan for the season.

The 28-year-old Frenchman spent part of last season on loan at West Ham, making 17 appearances after moving in January
