Coach Nyangweso leaves Ulinzi Stars post

Ulinzi Stars have made managerial shake up with Benjamin Nyangweso set to leave his post as the head coach with former player Dunstan Ouma Nyaudo poised to take charge on interim basis.

Ulinzi Stars Chairman Major Eric Oloo batted away claims Nyangweso had been fired but had only left the role to undergo further military training.

“He has gone for career progression training within the military which is expected to take one year,” Oloo told Citizen Digital.

This marks the second time Nyangweso leaves the team to enhance his military training having earlier left for three years before returning in 2016 where he deputized for the then head coach Robert Matano and finally taking full charge a year later.

Nyangweso led Ulinzi to winning a fourth Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title in 2010 but finished seventh this year; the first time they have ended a campaign outside the top three in three years.

Ulinzi have already lost the services of their talismanic forward Stephen Waruru who was their top scorer this season having bagged 13 goals in the KPL alone.

Nyangweso becomes the third manager to part ways with their club in KPL after after Tusker FC’s Goerge ‘Best’ Nsimbe and Bandari FC’s Paul Nkata.
