Coach Lubarov tells Equity Dumas to keep heads high after playoffs exit

Equity Dumas coach Joseph Lubarov has urged his players to keep their heads high and draw valuable lessons from their semifinal playoff exit last weekend.

The Bankers bowed out of the National Men’s Basketball Premier League playoffs after Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) completed a 3-0 sweep in their best-of-five semifinal series.

“We keep our heads high, we take lessons from the series as we continue to grow and improve,” said Lubarov after their Game Three defeat in Mombasa.

KPA wrapped up the series with a 82-56 victory over Equity Dumas on Saturday at Makande Gymnasium, having earlier won Game One 87-56 and Game Two 102-87 at Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi.

Lubarov conceded that KPA deserved their place in the final after dominating much of the series.

“They came out strong and unrelenting, and they played with confidence. They moved the ball well, rebounded effectively, and, for the majority of the series, they were the better team. Full credit to them. They were well coached and well prepared,” he said.

Despite the disappointment, Lubarov believes the experience will provide valuable lessons for the Bankers as they continue their development.

KPA will now face defending champions Nairobi City Thunder in the championship final.
