The state agency, operating under the State Department for Children Services, delivered essential supplies to affected households in Kakumutî and Kîatine villages in Mutonguni Ward following an appeal by the area legislator.
The donation included infant formula, diapers, beds, bedding, food rations, and a water tank to mitigate severe water access challenges.
In Kakumutî, a celebration of new life turned into tragedy after the mother of the two-month-old triplets died from post-childbirth complications, leaving the family ill-equipped to handle the immense financial and physical burden of raising three infants simultaneously.
A similar crisis unfolded in neighboring Kîatine, where another family welcomed triplets. The children's father left in search of employment shortly after their birth and failed to return.
Overwhelmed by severe economic distress in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) region and the demands of daily care, the mother subsequently abandoned the infants, leaving them under the care of their elderly grandmother.
CWSK, mandated with the care, protection, welfare, and adoption of children across Kenya, mobilized resources after MP Nyenze brought the families' plight to their attention.

Similar food distribution drives led by the society are currently underway across Samburu, Kipipiri, Siaya, Kisumu, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.
The ongoing outreach forms part of a nationwide effort by the Principal Secretary for Children Services and Cabinet Secretary Hanna Cheptumo to address learner welfare, mentorship, and child protection amid broader challenges facing students across the country.
