Broad-based leaders urge voters to reject opposition in 2027

A section of leaders allied to the broad-based government has renewed its attacks on the opposition, urging Kenyans to reject leaders they describe as having questionable character ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Enoretet, Transmara West, and Narok North, the leaders expressed confidence in their political fortunes, urging supporters to obtain their national identification cards and register as voters ahead of next year’s much-anticipated contest.

Led by Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, the team turned its fire on the opposition, including Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing the opposition of seeking to divide Kenyans along tribal lines.

“Kalonzo pangana uje mpaka hapa, wachana na maneno ya kuchanua nywele na kuzunguka Machakos na Athi River, kuja mpaka hapa useme mpango yako ni gani,” said Cheruiyot.

“Yule mwingine ambaye saa hii anaendelea ku-con watu kule US, wakati alikuwa ofisi alikuwa anasema Wamasaai hawana shares kwa serikali.”

President Ruto's Aide Farouk Kibet added, “Mimi nawaomba jinsi ya kufukuza wale watu wakabila na wale wamekatalia mamlaka ni kukata kura.., kuna wakabila wakubwa wako hawataki kutoka... wako tu na ukabila, uchochezi, wako na sumu. Imagine Uhuru hajui hata hapa.”

Narok Woman Rep Rebecca Tonkei on her part said, “Shida kubwa ya wale watu wa Wantam, shida yao ni sababu Wamaasai wameinuliwa... shida yao ni Wakiisogis wameinuliwa.”

In Narok North, ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga, accompanied by a host of party leaders, took the same message to residents of Nkareta, where they attended a youth empowerment programme.

But the event quickly took a political turn, with Wanga turning her guns on the opposition, insisting that ODM is firmly within the broad-based government.

Wanga, who was accompanied by ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo, said the party is ready to face what she described as a disorganised opposition.

“Baba kabla atuache alisema tusalie serikalini kwa sababu kumekuwa na tabia ya Wakenya kubaguliwa... sisi vile tumevaa jersey yetu pamoja na UDA na Ruto akiwa pale mbele na Dr Oburu Oginga, tutawashinda saa mbili asubuhi sababu hawana agenda, hawana party,” Wanga noted.

ODM SG Catherine Omanyo added, “Eti Sponyo anasema Baba ndiye alikuwa ameshinda na yeye ndiye alikuwa na mamlaka, saa hii tume-move on ndio anataka kutuchokora. Tumeona hiyo na mbali sana.”

“Tutaungana na wale watu wetu wa UDA.... Yule mkabila aliwatusi sana na akawaita eti nyinyi ni wachache. Tusikubali kuenda kwa hiyo siasa ya ukabila,” Migori Woman Rep Fatuma Mohammed stated.
