Strathmore Blades head coach Tony Ochieng has raised concerns over his team’s preparations ahead of their weekend Kenya National Men's Basketball Premier League fixtures.

“The week hasn’t been ideal for us in terms of preparation due to the weather. We have only managed one training session, while our opponents have had the advantage of training under a roof. On top of that, I won’t have a full squad available due to injuries and a few players being unavailable because of personal commitments,” he said.

Despite the setbacks, Ochieng remains optimistic of a strong showing from his side.

“This is a hard-fighting team with a very strong squad this year. Our plan is to control the game in all aspects, dominate the boards, execute our plays well, and run the floor effectively. We also need to settle early so we can contain Ulinzi. Overall, I’m expecting a good outing for us over the weekend,” he added.

Blades will face fellow varsity side Africa Nazarene University Wolfpacks today (Friday) before taking on Ulinzi Warriors tomorrow (Saturday) at the Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium in Nairobi.

Elsewhere, Africa Nazarene University Wolfpacks head coach Michael Oluoch has admitted his side faces a difficult return after a lengthy break.

“It’s been a long break for us, almost a month. The students haven’t been able to train due to exams, and many had to travel home, but they are now returning. We have to play these games, and we’ll give it our best shot. I believe everything will turn out well,” he said.

The Wolfpacks will take on Strathmore Blades today (Friday) before facing Nairobi City Thunder on Saturday and Ulinzi Warriors on Sunday.
