The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has secured a 20-year sentence for a Baringo man who defiled a minor.

The suspect has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of defiling a 12-year-old child.

The ruling was delivered at the Kabarnet Law Courts by Senior Principal Magistrate Purity Koskey.

The accused, a local shopkeeper and farmer, had repeatedly defiled the minor at his shop and maize farm on different dates, leaving the victim traumatized and afraid to report.

The minor was part of the four witnesses who were presented to the court by the prosecution, accompanied by medical examination reports and other crucial evidence, which not only corroborated the allegations but also established elements of defilement as well.

The court determined that the accused bore full responsibility for the acts that he had committed.
