Leading the pack is striker Beja Nyamawi, joined by seasoned goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo, defenders Siraj Mohammed and Swaleh Pamba, as well as creative midfielder David Sakwa.

For Nyamawi, the call-up is more than just another career milestone — it’s the fulfilment of a childhood dream.

“Playing for the national team has always been my biggest dream. I recently got my debut in a friendly against Chad in Morocco — and I believe more opportunities are coming,” he said with optimism.

Nyamawi, a native of Menzamwenye village in Lungalunga, Kwale, has had a standout KPL season, netting 13 goals despite battling injuries.

“I was targeting 20 goals like I did in the NSL, but I’m grateful for the 13. Next season, expect even more from me and Bandari,” he added.

With the FKF Premier League season concluded, Nyamawi believes local players are in top shape heading into camp.

“The competition will be tough, but we’re ready to fight for our place,” he asserted.

Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo praised his players’ recent call-up to the national team, saying it reflects their development and hunger for success.

"This shows the growth of these players. They were selected for the first time and took the opportunity with both hands. They’re destined for greater heights," said Coach Ken Odhiambo.

This year’s CHAN will be historic, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — the first time three countries share hosting duties.

The tournament will run from August 2 to 30, with matches staged across five stadiums: Nyayo and Kasarani (Kenya), Benjamin Mkapa and Amaan (Tanzania) and Nelson Mandela Stadium (Uganda)

Kenya has been drawn in a challenging Group A alongside heavyweights Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia.
