Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was on Thursday afternoon escorted out of Wang’uru police station in Mwea Kirinyaga County.

Babu had been detained at the police station after his arrest at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) ON Tuesday night.

His lawyer Ndegwa Njiru said the police did not disclose where Babu would be taken, hoping his client will be presented in court.

“The police are very cooperative, it is only some goons who wanted to bring issues here. But the police have handled them effectively,” Njiru said.

Earlier, a standoff had been witnessed at the police station, where the MP’s family demanded to see him.

Citizen Digital understands that Babu Owino is now in Nairobi Area.

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was also said to have been detained at the Wang’uru station, but lawyer Njiru (who also represents Njenga) says he is yet to see him.
