Bukembe Boys High School head coach George Mutimba says his team will rectify the mistakes that denied them success during the Bungoma County Secondary School Games as they shift focus to the upcoming Western Region Championships.

‎The tactician added that the defeat to Kibabi in the county final exposed areas that need improvement but insisted the team has learned valuable lessons from the setback.

‎Speaking to Citizen Digital ahead of the regional competition, Mutimba said his players have intensified training with the objective of lifting the Western Region title. He acknowledges that his charges face a difficult assignment after being placed in a challenging Group ‘B’ ‎ alongside football heavyweights Musingu, Emusire and Kolanya but maintained that the squad is ready for the task.

‎"It has not been easy. It has been a challenging journey all the way from the preliminaries to the county level. We have been top across all the stages, until we slipped in the county final, but we learn through such defeats. In our regional group, we are seen as the underdogs, but we are going to compete not to participate," said Mutimba.

Despite the quality of the opposition, Mutimba remains optimistic that his team has what it takes to top the group and secure qualification for the national championships.

‎"We are set and ready to go, anyone that will start from the bench or among the first team, are all my players, and our target is to play at the nationals," he added.

‎Following their runners-up finish at the Bungoma County Games, Bukembe will now turn their attention to the Western Region Secondary School Games, scheduled to take place in Bungoma County from July 7 -12, where they will be aiming to book a place at the national championships.
