An 80-year-old man was on Monday evening killed by his stepbrothers in Onono village, Kawino North Location, Kadibo Sub-County, following a dispute over land.

The victim, identified as Mzee Barack Ochuka, succumbed to injuries after he was attacked with crude weapons, sustaining severe wounds to the head, back, and arms.

According to a police report, the suspects—identified as Lawrence Onyuka, 38, and Tobias Onyuka, 35—also assaulted the deceased’s son, Calvin Ochieng, as he attempted to rescue his father.

Ochieng was stabbed in the chest and rushed to Nyang’ande Sub-County Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

The violent incident sparked outrage among villagers, who pursued the suspects in retaliation.

Lawrence narrowly escaped an attack from the mob and fled to Rabuor Police Station for safety.

Tobias, however, was caught and beaten by the public, sustaining serious head injuries.

Both suspects were later arrested and taken to Ahero Sub-County Hospital under police guard. Authorities confirmed they will face charges once they are discharged from hospital care.

Police have urged residents to remain calm as investigations into the incident continue.
