Police in Lang’ata sub-county are investigating an incident in which a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father to death following a dispute over the preparation of ugali.

Joseph Okello, 70, met his untimely death in Mugumoini location after a bitter confrontation with his son, Peter Olwenye, over the cooking process of the staple meal.

Witnesses said the deceased questioned his son’s decision to begin preparing ugali using water that had not sufficiently boiled.

The disagreement reportedly escalated after the father challenged the logic behind his son’s cooking method, leading to a deadly altercation.

Mugumoini Senior Chief George Mukuria said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident and may have been under the influence of drugs at the time.

The administrator added that the victim died on the spot after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the back and neck.

Village elders and youths have since mounted a pursuit and managed to trace the suspect to his hideout in the Soweto area, where he was apprehended and handed over to officers from Lang’ata Police Station who were on patrol.

The body of the deceased was taken to Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly City Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.
