Webuye traders count losses as fire razes market
Speaking to Wananchi Reporting, they said the fire started at around 3am on Thursday and nine stalls were destroyed in the process.
The traders were unable to salvage their products.
Moses Wambau, the chairman of the traders’ association, said, "Property worth millions of shillings has damaged, we don't know where to start picking the pieces from."
However, Wambau did not give an estimate of the value of goods destroyed.
The traders faulted the county government for failing to respond in good time as the fire engine arrived after many stalls had already been destroyed.
