A Third Year male student reportedly from the University of Eldoret is fighting for his life at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital after allegedly stabbing himself, in an attempt to take his own life.

The male student was found lying in a pool of blood alongside the body of his girlfriend at her house in Sogomo estate, on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

According the police, the male student identified as Elkana Korir, stabbed his lover, a Second Year student at the same university, before turning the knife on himself following an argument.

Police say that Korir still remains a suspect.

“The suspect had visited the young lady in her rented house outside the university premises where an argument ensued,” said the Soy Sub-county police commander Henry Zuma.

“The male student is continuing to receive treatment at the hospital,” said Zuma.

The body of the deceased was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Zuma said that the police are continuing with their investigations as they wait for the suspect to gain his strength before they can interrogate him.
