A section of residents in Narok County have come together to put up a bridge that was swept by floods.
Locals in Naaisuya and Olorroito told Citizen Digital that the bridge was swept as heavy rains pounded the region.
The temporary bridge links the two areas to Narok town.
The residents said they decided to come up with the short-term plan before the government constructs a permanent one.
"Members contributed Ksh.500 each towards this initiative," a resident said.
Officials from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERA) led by Emmanuel Kipruto pledged to assist locals to ensure their safety while using the bridge, once completed.
In January, residents in Narok County were put on high alert over heavy floods occasioned by heavy rainfall in upper parts of Narok North.
In a communique from the Narok County Department of Disaster Management, residents were urged to exercise caution and be apprised of local weather reports and official announcements.
Residents living in low-lying or flood-prone areas were advised to consider moving to higher ground temporarily to avert possible danger.
