A section of residents in Vihiga county held protests in Shamakhokho area on Friday calling for the exit of acting Vice Chancellor of Kaimosi University, Prof Jack Nandi.

The protesters accused the acting VC of failing to run the institution properly.

Nandi was unavailable to comment by the time of publication of this story.

Police dispersed the protesters by firing in the air.

Banja ward representative Collins Ayugu, who was among the protesters, accused the acting VC of favouritism in the hiring process.

The protests come as the Public Service Commission continues interviews for hiring a substantive Vice Chancellor.
