Parents threaten to bring learning to a halt over frequent changes to management at Bungoma school

A section of residents have threatened to bring learning activities at Kimabole Secondary School, Mt Elgon area, in Bungoma county to a halt, over what they term disruptions caused by persistent changes in the management of the school.

The locals have urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to intervene and provide a permanent solution to the crisis.

This comes as the recommended replacement for David Ogolla, the retiring head teacher, was reassigned, a situation which irked residents.

Wilfred Musamali, a parent, said, “When Ogolla retired, a new teacher was sent to head the school in an acting capacity, however we were shocked to hear that he was reassigned shortly after taking office and someone else was recommended to take his place and we don’t understand why.”

He went on to say that the school has been underperforming because of the frequent changes in management, adding that they will not accept the trend.

On his part, Chrisandos Makhoha said, “TSC should do its work without any interference because the disruptions are affecting the performance of our children.”

The residents also called on the Bungoma county government to prioritise residents for  employment opportunities and avoid nepotism, which they accused politicians of engaging in.

Meanwhile, locals called on the security apparatus to conduct a thorough investigation following the killing of a girl in Kimabole area.
