Nakuru: Concern amid spike in cases of theft targeting shops in Molo

Cases of insecurity are on the rise in Nakuru County, with locals urging police officers to address the matter.

Shop break-ins have been reported in various neighborhoods including Tayari area in Molo Sub County.

In the latest incident, Elizabeth Wambui’s shop was targeted, with the unknown gang making away with goods of unknown value.

“They stole packets of maize flour, wheat flour, bars of soap, among other basic commodities,” Wambui said.

Wambui told Citizen Digital that she received a distress call from neighbors who informed her of the break-in.

“Getting there, I saw a huge hole on the wall that the thieves used to access my shop,” she added.

A few meters away, Grace Njoki is counting losses. Her business is slowly picking up after a similar incident.

“The thieves made away with property worth thousands of shillings,” she recalled.

Calling for heightened police patrols, residents said the area should also be well lit to ward off any criminals.

Molo police commander Timon Odingo said that they are following up leads to arrest those behind the break-ins.

He urged residents to provide any information that will help in the ongoing investigations.
