MP Wandayi offers residents cash, food incentives to boost voter registration

Ugunja MP James Opiyo Wandayi is now offering incentives to his constituents in order to boost the ongoing voter registration exercise in the region.


As a way of ensuring maximum voter registration turnout, Wandayi is offering Ksh.150 to every boda boda operator who shall transport residents to the voter registration centers.


The boda boda operators will now be required to comb the villages to identify the potential voters who have not yet registered and carry them to the registration centers at the MP’s cost.


Apart from the boda boda operators, the lawmaker has also offered a Kilogram of maize flour to every individual who shall be registered as a voter between Saturday and February 6 when the registration exercise closes.


Speaking when he visited the Ugunja IEBC offices at Ambira, Siaya County to assess the progress of the voter registration exercise, Wandayi challenged political aspirants to also support in voter mobilization to enhance ODM leader Raila Odinga’s vote basket.


On her part, IEBC’s Ugunja Elections Manager Rose Obari stated that in order to meet their target voter registration target within the remaining few days, they are targeting those who are still in the villages and students.
