A section of residents in Kawela village located in Rongo Constituency in Migori County have decried lack of electricity.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, residents said their calls have gone unanswered despite pressing the government to ensure connectivity in the region.
According to locals, well over 200 households have been affected, with the last mile project only a pipe dream to many.
"We do not understand why we have not been considered all this time,"residents, led by Joash Ojwang, said.
They added that it is disheartening to remain in the dark despite being hardworking Kenyans who faithfully pay their taxes.
"Our community cannot invest in power-dependent businesses meaning our potential is untapped," they lamented.
The residents added that cases of insecurity have also been on the rise as unknown gangs take advantage of the situation.
They have called on their leaders to help address the situation as soon as possible.
