Police in Kericho county are hunting for a woman suspected to have killed her two children, a boy aged six and a girl, aged eight, and dumping them in a bush before fleeing.
The children's bodies were found dumped in Kabartegan village in Bureti Constituency.
Confirming the deaths, the chief, Leonard Kurgat, said the bodies were discovered by locals.
According to the children's uncle, Deniss Ngeno, he said the bodies had decomposed and their bodies had been mutilated by dogs.
Chemosot ward representative Annita Byegon condemned the incident, calling for speedy investigations.
She urged families to seek help when overwhelmed and not resort to killing and abandoning children.
"Even if you are going through a lot, it is important to ask for help and see how the community can help. Nyumba Kumi groups are also important to ensure we are able to monitor our neighbours and see how they are doing," Byegon said.
