Judicial officers arrested for allegedly issuing fake court receipts

Police officers from Nunguni Police Post in Makueni on Wednesday arrested three suspects for allegedly issuing forged court receipts.

Nelson Munyaka Court Assistant, Accountant David Mwaura and Court Driver William Musembi are accused of issuing fake receipts for payments of court fines and forfeitures for the release of accused persons from either court or police station.

“They forged receipts amounting to Kshs 161,000 and we established that they were issued between Feb 14, 2024 and Feb 16, 2024 in respect to some traffic cases where accused persons had pleaded guilty and fined.” Confirmed an officer of Nanguni police station.

Investigations into the incident have begun as the suspects remain detained at the police station.
