Fun day out turns tragic as 5 KCPE candidates die after boat capsizes in Uasin Gishu

According to a police report, the five were part of a group of Standard Six and Standard Eight pupils accompanied by teachers to a hotel for recreational activities.

The report said that upon arriving at the site on Saturday at around 5pm, some pupils boarded a boat whose path was a manmade dam and the boat capsized.

All the five Standard Eight pupils drowned, and one Standard Six pupil survived and was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital with acute low levels of oxygen.
