Emotions run high as two children thrown into swamp by their mother laid to rest in Kirinyaga
Relatives who accompanied the father of the two children, Peter Maina, condemned the incident, saying the crime will remain in his mind forever.
"I'm a boda boda operator at Kagio town and I was shocked after I was told my wife had killed our only two children and was being held at Baricho police station," a grieving Maina said.
On July 15, Grace Wambui aged 20 years old, stunned residents of Kiandai village after she killed her two children, aged four and three by throwing them into a swamp created after a contractor had harvested murram in the village.
Wambui's husband, Peter Maina, revealed that his wife went for the four-year-old boy from school before bringing the three-year-old boy home and then went to the swamp and threw the two boys in.
One of the family friends who attended the burial - Pastor Paul Munene - revealed that the couple had been having domestic problems and he had been counseling them.
Nominated MCA Lydiah Muriithi, who attended the burial, expressed concerns over the rise in cases of crime following domestic issues in Kirinyaga.
She urged families to seek help instead of resorting to harming their families.
Grace Wambui was arrested after the incident.
