Couple arrested for abandoning month old baby in Migori

A couple has been arrested after their one-month-old baby was found abandoned near Chamgiwadu Trading Centre in Rongo, Migori County on Sunday.

According to village elder George Oloo, the baby was rescued by residents who found him a few metres from their house.

Oloo stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the woman, who had separated from her husband several months ago over marital issues, arrived at the scene with the baby and abandoned him close to his door before disappearing.

"The woman came alone with the baby and left him just a few metres from the house. We managed to rescue the child," Oloo said.

The man and the woman were then arrested and handed over to Chamgiwadu police post.
