This, as the facility was at full capacity, forcing some patients and staff to resort to looking for facilities outside the hospital to relieve themselves.
The closure order has left patients stranded, with some saying that the other alternative is to look for private hospitals, which are costly.
A patient at the facility said, "The toilets don't function and patients who are able to move have had to go outside and relieve themselves outside in the bush."

Dickson Magina, from Busia Water and Sewerage Company, said, "We have done an assessment and indeed the toilets are not usable. The hospital uses septic tanks, which we are looking to clear."
