Bomet: 10 suspects arrested in SIM card fraud syndicate

Police in Bomet are holding 10 SIM card fraudster suspects after they were found with several national ID cards and unused SIM cards at Olbutyo trading center.

According to Chepalungu sub-county police boss Phanton Analo, police raided one of the premises at Olbutyo trading center on Saturday following complaints.

 Police identified the suspects as Brian Langat, Brian Cheruiyot , Aron Bett , Emmanuel Rono, Amos Kiprono, Titus Kipngeno, Dennis Rotich, Dennis Koskei, Marcos Kipkurui and Daniel Kiplangat.

The ID cards that were confiscated are believed to have been stolen.  

Other items found include exercise books filled with names, mobile numbers, SIM card pins, MPESA balances, fuliza limits, KCB MPESA loan limits, and dates of birth of the SIM card holders.

Police are finalizing their investigations before taking them to court on Monday.
