AFC Leopards youngster Daniel Musamali is grateful to coach Patrick Aussems for granting him the opportunity to play for the second most successful football club in the country noting that it is an ‘honour’ to play for a club of Ingwe’s calibre.

The youngster reportedly turned down an offer from Posta Rangers and has vowed to work harder in a bid to help the outfit redeem itself from the disappointing start.

Musamali returned to the den this season after spending the past campaign on loan at Nzoia Sugar and has gone on to nail sizable playing time under the Belgian tactician.

Nzoia are understood to have tried to sign the versatile midfielder permanently in the transfer window but Ingwe bosses blocked the transfer owing to the ban on registration of new players the club grappled with for the better part of the past transfer window.

Aussems had to work with a lean squad in the opening five rounds of the season after the club lost more than half a dozen of its players, and had not been cleared to register the new ones.

Since his return, the midfielder has started three consecutive matches against Bandari, Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka before the league went on break.

He also came off the bench in the Mashemeji derby as well as their barren draw against KCB.

"It is not easy for a young player to amass playing time in a big club. I am grateful to the coach for the opportunity he has given me and will continue to push myself so as to maintain my place in the team and help get positive results," he told Citizen Digital.

Musamali who has been filling the void left by Said Tsuma in the meantime, noted that the break has aided the team to bond well and they have worked on their weak areas so far hoping for positive results when the league resumes.

“This break has helped us a lot, I can say we have changed a lot, worked on our weak areas, we have clicked well as players. Expect big things when we return,” he enthused.
