Lining up fourth in Group B, Yego executed a smooth run-up and powerful release, hitting the automatic qualifying mark on his very first attempt.
His throw placed him second in the group behind Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who registered a season-best 89.53m, and third overall, with Germany’s Julian Weber throwing 87.21m.
Popularly known as Kenya’s “YouTube Man” for his self-taught rise to global success, Yego is making a remarkable comeback.
His throw not only marked his season’s best but also rekindled memories of his historic 2015 World Championship gold and Rio 2016 Olympic silver.
