Wanga double sinks Bandari, Zoo stun Leopards

Kakamega Homeboyz weathered match-fixing storm to inflict a stunning 4-0 loss on Bandari FC as they brought the coastal side’s unbeaten league run to a shuddering halt on Wednesday.

Allan Wanga, who was appointed caretaker boss following the dismissal of head coach Paul Nkata on match-fixing allegations, scored a brace to lead the demolition at the Bukhungu Stadium.

Luke Namanda and Ravel Maxwell scored one apiece to seal the victory for Homeboyz who ended a run of seven league matches without a win and moved into tenth on the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) table.

Zoo FC stunned AFC Leopards 1-0 at the Kericho Green Stadium thanks to Kevin Omondi’s 84th minute winner while Kariobangi Sharks and Mathare United settled for a barren stalemate in Kasarani.

Gor Mahia FC completed the KPL midweek action with a 2-0 victory over Sony Sugar at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium as they warmed up for Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against Zamalek SC in ideal fashion.

In Kakamega, Wanga put his side ahead with a 25th minute penalty after Bandari defender Amisi Abdallah hacked Ali Bhai down inside the area before Luke Namanda doubled the lead in the 57th.

Wanga then grabbed his double six minutes later before his substitute Ravel Maxwell added gloss to a magnificent performance by scoring the fourth with nine minutes left on the clock.

At Kasarani, Mathare were unlucky not to go 1-0 up just 12 minutes into the match when David Owino’s long range effort cannoned off the post.

Duke Abuya later wasted the chance to put Sharks ahead, failing to beat goalkeeper David Okello from a one on one situation.
