Vihiga Queens still in the title race, says coach Nyamu
Although league leaders Police Bullets have held on the top spot with zest and zeal so far, Nyamu is not giving up yet with five matches to go.
Nyamunyamu who spoke after Vihiga Queens thrashed Bunyore Starlets 3-0 in a Vihiga derby played at Moi Stadium Kisumu on Sunday is keen to win all the remaining fixtures hoping to catch up with Police.
“Some of my players couldn’t believe that their colleagues had left the team. They took time to come to terms with it hence delay in catching up. That is why we have struggled to replicate our usual show this season,” Nyamu said.
The five main players who ditched the side include Marceline Wayodi (Kampala Queens, Uganda) Winnie Babirye (Makerere Queens, Uganda) Janet Bundi (Yanga Princess, Tanzania) and Martha Obatta (Sethu FC).
The four-time KWPL champions are second on the table with 34 points, nine less than Police but Nyamunyamu is still unbowed.
“I know the challenge we have been in. If Kenya Police will outwit us this season I will have to plan for next season. I have young players who have now settled in the team whose future is promising,
"All we have to do now is win the remaining matches including the extra one we have not played, and you never know Police could drop points..." Nyamu' stated.
