St. Anthony's Lugalia targeting EA hockey title after nationals miss
St. Anthony's Kitale hockey head
coach Kevin Lugalia says failure to convert the many chances in the final
against Musingu last week cost them a chance to reclaim the title they lost in
last year’s final.
Musingu defeated St. Anthony's 3-2
for the second year in a row to retain the national hockey title and Lugalia
says it was down to their lack of efficiency upfront.
“We created many chances that we
failed to convert, that really cost us. It was painful because we believe had
what it takes to win the title ,”said Lugalia
They two sides clashed in the group
stages of the competition and St. Anthony's won 1-0, but Musingu rallied
with zest and zeal to win the final.
“They have many coaches in every area
on the field so the player tend to receive instructions for every side unlike
us that we are only on the technical bench that is something that has always
give them an advantage over us but we will find away to deal with it ,”added
Lugalia
With both sides headed for the East
African School games in Uganda in August, the Lugalia believes they
have adequate time to prepare for the competition and reclaim the title they
last won in 2019 .
“We are not going to rest we will keep on
training with the aim to be at the our best when they games begin and I'm sure
we will be in our best shape to win the title," stated the head coach.
