Shabana hammer Kibera Black Stars to up push for KPL promotion

By Hillary Kennedy at Gusii Stadium

Shabana FC continued with their relentless charge for a National Super League title and promotion to the Kenyan Premier League with a pivotal 1-0 win over visiting Kibera Black Stars at a rocking Gusii Stadium that was filled to the rafters.

Captain Peter Ogechi was the toast of the afternoon scoring the all-important goal at the stroke of half-time to spark off wild celebrations from the huge number of fans that included Opposition chief Raila Odinga.

The win hauled Shabana’s points tally to 60 from 26 matches.

Black Stars staged a spirited fight but to no success, missing several opportunities throughout the first 45 minutes.

Shabana coach Sam Okoth in a post-match interview congratulated his boys for a job well done even though he said they were a bit tensed.

His counterpart Moses Onyango said “the best team won even though his players tried their best”.

Shabana have six more matches to go before the season concludes.
