Former Shinyalu MP Daniel Khamasi dies in hospital

Khamasi, who served as the MP for Shinyalu for two consecutive terms from 1997 to 2007, died Tuesday morning at a hospital in Nairobi following a prolonged illness. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.

Messages of condolence have begun pouring in from leaders across the country mourning his passing, among them Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa, who has paid tribute to the former legislator.

"I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Hon. Daniel Khamasi, former MP for Shinyalu. He was a dedicated servant whose contribution to Shinyalu will be remembered. Heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Shinyalu," said Governor Barasa.
