Former Harambee Stars team manager Willis Waliaula has backed
Police FC to clinch this season's Football Kenya Federation Premier League
title following a stellar campaign.
Police, who top the log, only need to beat their next opponent,
Shabana, to secure their maiden top-flight title, and Waliaula credits that to
the coming of age of both the players and the technical bench.
“The
team has experienced players and an experienced technical bench. Some of these
players have in the past played together in a different team and won titles, so
they know how to win matches and not panic when results don’t go well,” said
Waliaula
Waliaula has also cited the experience the law enforcers got
from their participation in the CAF Confederations Cup as a key ingredient to
their impervious form this term.
“The
tournament exposed them very well in high-level competition against the best on
the continent, hence whatever little they gained has been useful, “added Waliaula.
Police’s move to appoint former Burundi national team head coach
Etienne Ndayiragije in November last year seems to have paid off, as they are
on the brink of bagging their first-ever top-flight title.
“He is humble,
not a proud man at all, very calm, that does his job every when the team is not
giving results as expected, that is the quality of an excellent coach,” stated
the former team manager
