Kenya Police FC has been crowned 2024/2025 FKF Premier League champions on Sunday after a 1-0 win over Shabana FC in Machakos, completing a remarkable transformation from a mid-table side to title winners.

This is Police FC’s first time in their history to win the title.

Gabriel Odhiambo’s towering header in the 75th minute from an excellent corner by Tyson Otieno was enough to secure the title for Etienne Ndayiragije coached side.

The win took Police to 64 points, six clear of their closest challengers Gor Mahia who secured a 3-2 win over Ulinzi Stars in another match played at the Ulinzi Complex - Nairobi.

Ndayiragije will remain in Police FC’s history as the coach who led the team to the first league title, despite joining the law enforcers almost midway the campaign.

The former Burundi national team Head Coach became Police’s eighth coach in just three years when he was appointed mid-season, replacing Salim Babu, who, along with his entire technical bench, was dismissed following a poor run of results earlier in the campaign.

Before his arrival, Police Bullets coach Beldine Odemba took charge of the team on interim basis, then doubling up as she still led the Kenya Women Premier League champions.

Police will be handed the Premier League trophy in their final home game against Gor Mahia next week.

Police FC were promoted into the top flight in the 2020/2021 season, and finished 10th in their maiden campaign before a fourth and third place finish in the subsequent seasons.

The law enforcers will represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League next season.

Last season, they played in the CAF Confederation Cup where they were eliminated by Egyptian giants Zamalek FC in the second round of preliminary stage.

In other Kenyan Premier League results on Sunday, AFC Leopards thumped hosts FC Talanta 3-1, while Tusker FC was held to a barren draw by Kariobangi Sharks. The Mara Sugar versus Murang'a SEAL match registered a similar result, which was the case in the Bandari versus Mathare United who shot blanks in their match.

Sofapaka, the 2009 champions, won 2-1 against Posta Rangers as visitors Kakamega Homeboyz edged Bidco United 1-0.

The last match of the penultimate round of matches this season saw Nairobi City Stars overcome KCB FC 2-1.
