Over 170 Golfers to Grace KCB Golf Series at Sigona

A huge field of over 170 golfers from Nairobi and its environs is expected to grace the 11th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the Sigona Golf Course tomorrow.

Over the weekend, the four-ball of Patrick Kinyanjui, Lawrence Njenga, Nicholas Gathuru and Wallace Mwaura returned a combined score of 110 points to emerge as the overall team winners of the tenth leg of series at the 18-hole Limuru Country Club.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Sigona Club Captain Pratik Sanghrajka said: “Golf has consistently seen tremendous growth in recent years, our collective efforts to grow the game has been pivotal in giving a platform to enthusiasts to hone their skills. Sigona Golf Club is honored to be part of the KCB Golf Series that is impacting the community positively.”

The regional tourney has so far traversed Nakuru, Kakamega, Kericho, Nyeri, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu and Nandi Counties reaching over 1000 participants and over 600 juniors through the clinics that ran concurrently with the tour.

KCB  Group Director Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru emphasized the importance of nurturing the next generation of golfers and providing opportunities for the seasoned players to participate in local, regional and international tournaments.

“At KCB, we are firmly committed to elevating this sport to an elite level, which is why for the second year running, we are hosting the KCB East Africa Golf Tour. Sigona is an important course for us because we intend to interact with golfers from every corner of this country, to give them a chance to play in this competitive amateur tournament,” noted Rosalind.

The Bank has also embedded sustainability at the heart of the series, since last year, tree planting exercises have been done in the different courses the tour has graced – highlighting KCB’s efforts to curb the climate change effects.
