KCB Rugby Club has officially opened
applications for the Team Manager position ahead of the 2025/26 season,
coinciding with the start of the National 7s Circuit.
The announcement follows the end of
Priscilla Amollo Ong’ombe’s tenure, marking a key leadership change as the club
seeks to reclaim dominance after another trophy less Kenya Cup campaign.
The incoming Team Manager will be
tasked with offering strategic leadership, handling logistics, managing player
welfare, overseeing registration, and ensuring smooth coordination across all
club operations.
KCB RFC has emphasised the need for a
candidate with proven experience in Kenya Cup rugby, exceptional communication
skills, and the ability to align with the club’s values and dynamics. The application
deadline is Thursday, 31 July 2025.
On the pitch, KCB had a bittersweet
2024/25 season. The team finished third overall in the Kenya Cup after Menengai
Oilers halted their title chase in the semi-finals.
Although KCB were awarded a walkover
win against Nondescripts in the third-place playoff, it marked the fourth
consecutive season without a major trophy.
Despite a strong start to the season,
dominating early fixtures and finishing second in the regular standings with 50
points, KCB’s title ambitions once again fell short.
They had a strong scoring record with
549 points for and just 125 against, including a seven-match unbeaten run.
However, their continued struggle against Kabras Sugar, suffering a fifth
straight defeat, highlighted an area needing improvement.
In the 2024 National 7s Circuit, KCB
managed a third-place finish with 94 points, down from 113 points the previous
season. Their only tournament win came at the Kabeberi 7s, falling behind in
overall consistency across the circuit.
As the club enters a transitional
phase, the recruitment of a new Team Manager will be key to reversing their
recent fortunes and ensuring KCB regains its competitive edge across both the
15s and 7s formats.
